Although “The Day After” still carries the distinct “Emmens signature”, it also reveals a new sonic approach of this talented Dutch synthesist.
This narrative story may be Gert’s most emotive album to date, seeing him come up, close and personal through his moving, at times dreamy but always consistently deep and honest musical endeavors. Comfort and contemplation is found at the very heart of each of the seven tracks, where hope and despair stride in the long run. This is how it feels like when the love of your life is gone forever without leaving a trace.
Simply listen and feel the heart closing in as the evocative “The Day After” unfolds meticulously. Chapeau, Gert!
