Jonn Serrie – Thousand Star
CD, New World Music, 2009

After a hiatus of a few years, space music veteran Jonn Serrie returns with “Thousand Star” (which was formerly named “Radii”).

Like its predecessor “The Stargazer’s Journey”, the highly immersive and elevating music delves deep into the vast spaces and overall magic of the cosmos.
Fortunately, it again doesn’t compromise on any aspect what makes the genre stand out, as we drift along on smooth, velvet textures, occasional gentle piano keys or are carried away by smooth sequencer patterns and effects.

“Thousand Star” is a 69-minute ride of wonder, intended to play as if the listener were taking part in a science fiction novel, told with music and sound design instead of words and pages.
In addition, instead of an Earth based view of observing space from a distance, Jonn invites his audience to take the voyage with him as it happens.

Jonn’s sound design is still very sophisticated, refreshing, transparent and tranquil, making the imminent space music poems of “Thousand Star” an absolute joy to listen to.
Highly recommended!
