Marconi Union are the Manchester-based duo Richard Talbot and James Crossley.
“A Lost Connection” is their third release, the outcome being a concept album shaped around themes of isolation and disconnection, inspired by images of withdraw from the world.
In all, there are seven tracks with a mellow sound design, on which repetitive structures and down tempo elements are keenly fused with warm string tapestries, guitar sounds and occasional up-tempo beats.
Overall, the smooth but sophisticated music presented here feels like a journey inward in which a pleasant kind of desolation and remoteness are the key factor, but “harmonious stillness” might also be a proper description.
Don’t hesitate, and make the connection…
