The second chapter of “World of Apes” (subtitled The Madness Continues) offers 75 minutes of fresh, contemporary and at times even danceable Em.
Featuring less sampled sounds compared to it predecessor, Mr Scholl also didn’t use any witness-samples. Beside quite some loungy undercurrents through the various tracks, Bernd Scholl also comes up with some peppy sequencing, while speeding up the rhythms and beats on other occasions to poppy effect. There’s even some vocoder vocals on “The Message” and the ninth piece “Insanity” says briefly Hi! to Kraftwerk’s “Computerworld”. The last track is one with repetitive vocal, with a short groovy bonus at the tail.
All in all: if you don’t have the first chapter yet, you might consider buying the dvd-r version containing both chapters 1 and 2 of “World of Apes”, but now presented in DTS and AC3 surround-sound (5.1).
