What I got here is a kind of forgotten but worthy album in the EM-genre.
Narcosis is Steve Jenkins, a technical/stage manager for the UK Hampshire Jam series of concerts, and Irish synthesist Stephan Whitlan. Despite Mr Jenkins not being a technically skilled player as Mr Whitlan, he is driven by a passion for electronic music which made him start to collect some hardware to try and start making some.

The outcome on this album is music the duo created over a five-year year period during various studio sessions, trying to get bits of analogue equipment to work, or do what they wanted them to do (rather than what they wanted). There’s quite some jolly nice sequencing going on here besides some recognizable soloing and catchy sonic sidekicks by Mr Whitlan. The disc ends with a vibrant 36-minute live set the duo played at Hampshire Jam 4 in October 2005. If you love improvised melodic analogue music with a nice own touch of Berliner School, this 79-minute album might suit you well.

Originally physically released on Stephan’s private label Fairy Nuff Music (dedicated to providing you with EM that doesn’t fit the normal mould), Music Zeit now offers the albums improvised music also as download.
