“Starjournal” by ambient musician Phillip Wilkerson is a collection of 11 tracks, all composed around a series of field recordings made from a radio telescope.

Those who are familiar with his gentle flowing soundscape music will be surprised, as the experimental oriented sonic content of “Starjournal” isn’t that easy to congest.
One hears the actual radio signals set to textural drones, glitches, clicks and hypnotizing, rhythmic structures, to which additional drones were produces with a Renner synthesizer.

This is deep, abstract microtonal cosmic stuff that for the most part acts like a sound document to me, on which the music comes second.
The album is available as a free download at the Clinical Archives net-label.
