Pyramid Peak – Evolution
CD, Private Release, 2007

With the studio-album “Evolution”, the German trio Andreas Morsch, Axel Stupplich, Uwe Denzer (aka Pyramid Peak) has composed another fine melodic and Berliner School inspired release.

The distinct style of Tangerine Dreams “Underwater Twilight” and “Tyger” is running smoothly through the five lenghty and spatial sounding tracks. Proof of that is on the excellent, moody and unhurried opening piece “Gravity”, that even features some Russian vocals (as known from TD’s “Kiev Mission”).

The next three tracks offer some very tasty, quite minimal-sequenced stuff along spheric pads, creating an overall mellow and warm atmosphere. The 29-minute title track is actually a remix of a song the band played in the Dechenhoehle cave in 2007. The album ends with a fine remixed and even improved version of the popular track “Dive”, taken from their 1999-album “Ocean Drive”.

All in all, if you’re into the projects albums “Ocean Drive”, “Random Events” , the fresh sounding, excellent produced and performed “Evolution” won’t disappoint the least.
Bravo, meine Herren!
