At the start of the ‘70s Tangerine Dream created some impressive soundworlds and haunting atmospheres on “Phaedra” and “Rubycon”.
A similar aural spirit is found on “Spoon Forest”, a 70-minute recording featuring three 20-minute tracks for which Marcel, Ruud and Terje each were in charge of the sequencers on one of them. It’s simply a delight to dwell in the mesmerizing yet psychedelic-ish realm from the old days making up “Winterflow” and the title piece. All elements gel nicely and seamlessly on both tracks as the captivating vintage electronics move along. The outcome of the third track “Trollheimen” moves a bit more into the domain of “Ricochet”, mixing its string of sequences with Schulzian soloing and choir textures. Recommended.
