Unidentified Feathered Object
CD-R, DataObscura, 2003
I wasn’t too fond to review this cd, as the Databloem-label releases some rather different electronic music than I usual prefer.

I was wrong, as this Kwook-cd appeared to be more than enjoyable. Kwook, aka Simon Bennett, is an Australian musician who realms in the world of "dubbed ambient".

"UFO" contains five long and one short track (in total 57 minutes) which is, in my modest opinion, best described as hypnotizing and repetitive, soft-swelling sound sculptures which all go their own way in delicate washes.
This is chill-out mood music, containing some distinct high-tech edges, only getting more active as the drone and downbeat rhythm of "Ice Planet" announce themselves.
Only the closing track isn’t appropriate here, as it realms in strange voice-samples, experimental sounds and fx.

In all, the biggest part of this tickling ambient release is good audio company.
