MYTHOS
Surround Sound Offensive
CD, Private Release, 2008

Mythos, aka Berlin-based musician Stephan Kaske, has come up with the idea to revive surround sound, which was introduced several years ago in hifi-world, but also rather quickly abandoned by the major manufacturers of audio equipment.
"Surround Sound Offensive" offers a range of 11 accessible, contemporary electronic tracks which follow nicely in the footsteps set out by the Berliner School style. The refreshing, very spacious melodic themes often feature several tempi in one songs, which don’t always work out that well to my taste, although its energetic vibe is certainly present.
Certain melodies and the way of composition occasionally reminded me of Ad Visser’s album "Sobrietas", especially when it comes to the moody sequencers loops and sound rendition. Of all tracks, the second (more quiet) theme and the simple but effective eight tune are worth a mention.
Those looking for unique spacious dimensions in sound should not hesitate trying this recording, a special campaign for surround sound, dolby pro logic (™) and musical high-tech.
