Return to Planet X
CD/DIGITAL DOWNLOAD, Deserted Island Music, 2017
The outcome heard on "The Return of Planet X" was staged live in concert at a one-off event organised by Remy Stroomer and Ron Boots in May 2012 in the Grote of St.Bavokerk in Haarlem. "Part 2 –Movement VI" also included here was already released back in 2012 by Ron Boots on his album "Signs in the Sand".
"The Return of Planet X" though presents the full scope of music played that evening where minimal electronics meet (neo)classical music which involved a 10-piece choir, two violin players and a cello player. There’s a strong minimal flavor and cyclic element along certain abstract-surrealism on the first part (Movement I-V) composed and performed by Remy and friends and from there it’s just a small step to Schulze’s classical-infused work. A burst of energy is released when the church’s grand C. Müller Organ kicks in on the improvised third part/finale. The albums short outro of features a revisited studio version of "Movement II". I for one am glad Remy has revisited the magical atmosphere and music of that evening and share it with a global audience.
