THE SYMPHONIC JEAN MICHEL JARRE
The Symphonic Jean Michel Jarre
CD, Tadlow Music, 2006
October 2nd 2006 saw the release of this double cd featuring the Jarre’s major works presented in a classically, orchestral setting. All music is performed by The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and Crouch End festival Chorus conducted by Nic Raine.
On a few tracks, such as "Gloria Lonely Boy", the beautiful voice of soprano Charlotte Kinder is heard. Well, the label did a good job as this music sparkles and shines all the way through with highlights such as "Equinoxe 4", the beautiful laidback "Fishing Junks at Sunset" or "Magnetic Fields 1".
The second disc features tracks like "Oxygene 13" and "Magnetic Fields 1" but also the refined "Acropolis", a premiere studio recording of the composer. Nevertheless, it’s a pity they also included the flaws such as "The Last Rumba" or "Industrial Revolution part 1 and 2". The electronics aren’t completely left out on this album as they take centre stage on tracks like "Equinoxe 4" and "Magnetic Fields 1".
The music is also released as a special limited edition 2-cd and dvd-a (audio dvd) set featuring the album on dvd-a in Dolby 5.1 surround sound. This release shouldn’t be missed by any Jarre-fan.
