Stephen Parsick – Tektonik – music for earthquakes
CD-R, Private Release, 2006

Many will know German musician Stephen Parsick as one half of the dark ambient duo [‘ramp].
Between September 2004 and January 2006 he created the first recordings of the 57 minute, deep ambient album “Tektonik” in his private studio, a concept album of slow morphing ambient textures, loops and drones.

The six tracks visualize the enormous forces and impact of grand continental shelves grinding against each other, having the deepest impact when heard through headphones.

While listening, one can almost see and feel the carefully moulded soundscapes go underneath the massive skin of the earth, displaying the disastrous impact of seismic activity.
Only toward the end of the fifth track “Seismik” and the closing track “Rhyolith” some lighter, twinkling sound washes show up.

All in all, “Tektonik” is a great piece of darkening ambience, which was released in a small batch of only 25 numbered copies.
Well done, Stephen!
