Uwe Reckzeh – Altitude 30000
CD-R, Mellowjet Records, 2007

This is my first encounter with a full album of this musician, of whom I only knew a few single tracks from the E-dition sampler cds.
Uwe Reckzeh’s fifth album “Altitude 30000” is an contemporary instrumental album of which the sound design and sequencing are strongly Berliner School-based.

The cd takes off with the nine minute title track, which features some distinct sounds which are strongly related to TD’s “Tangram”.
Uwe’s accessible melodic music is quite a joy to listen to, as it combines nice attractive sequencing and warm synth pads, creating electronic music that takes you out there.

This is the case on “Tropical Cyclone”, which is also available as (a not as strong) live version as a bonus at the end of the album.
But I’m especially fond of the 12-minute atmospheric piece “Landfall”, which creates an overall laidback and warm sonic realm.

All in all, this is honest and properly executed mainstream electronic music.
