Benn Jordan is a Chicago-based musician/producer who seems to be known under various other aliases (e.g. The Flashbulb) and for other types of music than what’s found on this cosmic gem.
“Pale Blue Dot”, a tribute album to the late scientist and astronomer Carl Sagan, is filled with lush, beautifully rendered space music and drifting ambient soundscapes with its own signature.
The 18 short ambient tracks form an uninterrupted 60-minute interplanetary journey, a gentle stream of easy-going ambient synth washes, tapestries and some light sequencing that fluidly shape shift and move forward in the realms of infinite space. Moreover, it avoids the trap becoming too cheesy, as there’s a slight rough rim to the sound design that gives the outcome an active but hypnotizing feel.
All in all, there’s a great vibe and lightness embedded in this overall blissful and immersive space-ambiance, setting its own mark in the genre of chill-out cosmic music.
“Pale Blue Dot” is available as an Mp3 or FLAC download on the Mr Jordan’s Alphabasic website or at Bandcamp.
