The creative mind behind “Circles in 3d” is Finnish musician Janne Hanhisuanto.
From the press-sheet I learned “Circles in 3d” was inspired by the beauty of circles. A circle begins and at the same time ends. Always moving, looking for the end, only to find nothing but constant movement, creating something beautiful, something that gives it reason for its existence.

The music on “Circles in 3d” consists of ten parts of smooth morphing and curling textures and layered soundscapes, crisp effects and loops along occasional rhythmic outings. The mesmerizing, hypnotic flow is interrupted on the more rhytmic “part 3”, while “part four” nicely ventures into Tibetan flavours.

The sequenced and more melodic “part five” sets things in motion again, and the peculiar groovy character continues on “part six” with a short rocking flair. Immersive, silencing and thoughtful soundscapes with organic undercurrents return on the following parts, opening up beautiful, reflective and vast spacescapes. Of these I’m especially pleased with the morphing depths created on “part eight”.

Pulsating electronics and e-guitar surface briefly on “part nine”, after which the album concludes with the lush, ethereal textures of the final “part ten”.
This said, “Circles in 3d” makes a most interesting and varied ambient listen.
