CD-R, Private Release, 2003

This seems to be the second cd of multi-instrumentalist John Luttrell, also founder of his own label Ottersong Records. Next to composing ambient music he’s also singer/songwriter of progressive rock music.

This album offers a nice combination of original sounding piano- and ambient compositions which all bear the influence of classic music. Opener “The Sense” e.g. is a happy, uplifting piece of music which will certainly trigger your attention, as do the following nine tracks.

“Farpoint Theme” and “River’s Edge” carry on in vintage style, with moody mellotron textures, while the latter one also contains nice atmospheric conditions mixing with the soundscape.

There’s a certain intimacy and easiness in this music which just feels right. So it won’t be a surprise when I say I like to recommend this well done & properly produced music.
On the other hand, it also makes me anxious on how his debut album “Underwater Flying Lessons” sounds like…
