The sonic world of Spanish ambient sound sculptor Kloob I’m accustomed to so far is one of deep invocation, and his “Cryptic Interactions” (inspired by various weird encounters with ‘suspected entities’ that mankind has had throughout history) is no exception. Dark, dense expanses, spacious environs and ancient mystery shake hands on the one-hour aural drift made up of assorted electronic sounds and treated organic field recordings. Tracks such as “Encrypted Feedback” and “Profound Invocation” evoke an inter-dimensional shift into an enigmatic otherworld of shadows while “Inner Ritual”, spiced with a subdued rhythmic structure, hints toward a shaman ceremony. “Spectral Rage” makes the most powerful outing here with its minimalist thunder-beat. Despite currents and swirls of gloom lurking around many corners things though stay accessible to the ear due to various passages where single rays of light shine through. Grab this one if you’re on the lookout for an addition to your deeper-listening library. |
