Steve Roach – Structures from Silence
CD, Fortuna Records/Projekt Records, 1984/2001

“Structures from Silence” was recorded in 1983 and 1984, a time that Steve Roach was living in Culver City, California.
The mood music on this classic recording (originally released on audio cassette, soon attracting the attention of Fortuna Records) is perfectly suitable to put the busy mind to rest.

The album contains three expansive pieces, offering harmonious, soothing and gently morphing soundscapes, which especially “peaks” on the 28-minute title track with its nicely balanced and ultimately relaxing sound waves.
This sonic sanctuary, for which Kevin Braheny Fortune and Michael Stearns provided the sonic enhancements, was re-released in 2001 on Projekt Records.

All in all, “Structures from Silence” is a major work of deep textural ambience delivering a lucid and reflective experience.
Highly recommended.
