CD/DIGITAL DOWNLOAD, City Centre Offices/Domino, 2003

This album is the follow-up to Ulrich’s excellent “Far Away Trains Passing By”. It’s a release with a bittersweat current of melancholy sweeping between the notes and some very nicely executed danceable moves.

“Gone Forever”, “Monday Paracetamol” or “Blumenthal” are just a few cues of emotive, warm electronica with synthetic and organic (if not addictive) melodies on which his recognizable sound emerges beautifully. Here, a mesmerizing, deep sense of emotion sparkles all the way and in many colours while it also has the intrinsic power to transcend to many levels in all its purity and honesty.

I for one regard “A Strangely Isolated Place” a 60-minute medicine box that will do the trick when you feel weary, lonely and are in need of something to help you get by and lift you up. So if you like his debut, make sure you get this one as well.
