Mark Shreeve and co established quite a live reputation since they started the project back in 1994. With “Faultline”, Redshift brings its third live recording to the table, this time documenting the exciting outcome of the four set pieces played at the Hampshire Jam 2 festival, Liphook, England, 9 November 2002. The 74 minutes of retro-electronic music with Marks’s big Modular Moog as the focal point turns out infectious and consistent, pairing psychedelic, spaced-out atmospherics, fat synthetic sounds, and plenty of poignant, deep (and sometimes even thundering) sequencer patterns. Of course, a good dose of Mellotron is thrown in here as well, making it lovely pulsating vintage electronics altogether that almost seem to beg to be played out loud. The live performance was also released on DVD-R, containing the same pieces plus “Mania” (live) as an extra track.
