The soothing ambient character found on Nik’s previous albums continues with “Pale Blue Dot”, so there are few surprises here. Across its 47-minute runtime, slow-moving progressive textures and uplifting yet tender atmospheres, enhanced by various environmental sounds, create a distinctly cinematic feel. The drifting soundscapes evoke an introspective mood, but unfortunately, the album often comes across as rather bland and repetitive, with tracks blending into one another. Only the closing track introduces a touch of rhythm and a melodic chord, but it’s not enough to lift the album above mediocrity overall.
