“Regenesis” -cut from the 24-bit master source, as is customary at the label- finds accomplished duo Chris Bryant and Don Tyler exploring another contemporary interpretation of ambient and space music. Yet this hour-long release represents more than a continuation of their established sonic vision; it signals a distinct evolution in the Ascendant sound. As the project’s first entirely modular release, “Regenesis” embodies renewal, reconstruction, and the opening of a new creative chapter. According to Bryant, the album retains the essential Ascendant DNA: Berlin School sequencing, expansive harmonic landscapes, luminous synthesizer textures, and the unmistakable sense of cosmic motion that has long defined the duo’s music. At the same time, something fundamentally different emerges. The modular setup introduces a heightened sense of immediacy and electrical energy, giving the compositions an organic, almost spontaneous character. Individual sonic elements appear to coalesce in real time, evolving from scattered signals into richly interconnected structures that feel both fluid and purposeful. The result is a compelling synthesis of familiar Ascendant characteristics and renewed creative momentum, reaffirming the duo’s affinity for cosmic exploration while opening up fresh sonic territory. |
