Azul y Negro – Deja Vu
CD/DVD, Vaso Music, 2008

“Déjà Vu” is a limited edition cd/dvd release by Spanish musician Carlos Vaso, aka Azul Y Negro, containing electronic synth & techno pop music created between 2005 and 2007.

The 50-minute instrumental albums starts with the 12-minute “Flash-Back”, featuring up-tempo electronics, catchy melodies and rhythms plus some bass pulses. It’s done quite nicely, but the track lasts too long.
“Heaven” is the only more quiet tune with lush soundings on the album, before the 13-minute e-guitar track “Evolution” announces itself with some occasional happy whistling.

“The Present in Motion” takes the same approach as the first piece, running into up-tempo territory. Unfortunately, it again lasts too long. One should forget the flat and bland sounding percussive outing “Onyric”, in which I can’t detect anything attractive. The videogame Déjà Vu Invaders is added as a bonus to the cd.

The dvd contains the same tracks in 5.1 surround sound, including a 15-minute documentary on the history of “Déjà Vu “.
