Improvising on reconditioned vintage synthesizers (but still in a minimal style) is what Geir Jenssen is doing on “Inland Delta”, visualizing rocky, remote but occasionally also a bit eerie yet disturbing aural environments through its partly drony synthetic textures. I can’t say I’m grabbed by the album’s environmental ambience, its mysterious, rather experimental approach combined with a bit too much minimalist structure. I, for one, felt lost in these sound sketches, missing proper substance and being distracted by those still present. Except for the piano/synth track “The String Thing”, I’ll pass these generic, too pure electronics; they simply get on my nerves rather quickly. |
