What I got here is a sudden release by Boreal Taiga on his own private label. Only recently, he received the music from a live recording of a set he performed in summer 2024 at the outdoor Monad Drift Gathering. It’s a lovely ambient set of nearly an hour (extracted from a 2.5-hour soundscape set) made up of six atmospheric, spacious tracks – all previously unreleased material and remixed. To get an idea, imagine a completely beatless compilation of live tracks focusing more on the chiller side of sound, assembled from field recordings, long drones, pads, and layered textures. It’s uplifting, mesmerizing and calming throughout, and a pleasant drift to make your mind wander. Well done, JimDe! |
