In the album’s booklet, musician Uwe Saher elaborates the content of this album turns away quite a bit from traditional Berlin School. Instead, it focusses on minimalist sound design and layered repetitive sound structures featured on two 20 minute tracks and one 12 minute piece. As such, listening to and appreciating the outcome takes a bit more effort and patience then I anticipated, especially on the longer tracks where the shifting of sounds and layers happens in ongoing cycles, lasting a bit too long to my liking. The closing piece “Mantra” suits me better due to its uplifting, driving nature and (what seems) a bit less complex structure. Rating: between 3 and 3.5 stars |
