“The New Kingdom” is the second album by Bruno Sanfilippo. It’s a medieval/classical work of art that next to synthesizers also features guest musicians on flutes, vocal treatments and violin. Stylistically, the release shows the composer’s preference for classical themes.
The cinematic outcome resembles classic Gandalf, Richard Burmer, Troika and Genesis, carrying tender/dreamy flavours along symphonic airs. The first half of “The Sacred Gift” comes close to Celtic music.
Although a sensitive album with some charming moments, the outcome isn’t as captivating as I had hoped for.
