Refined symphonic new age/space music is still the core and backbone of Constance Demby’s work. “Spirit Trance” is a nearly 57-minute recording containing eight captivating, gentle sweeping and melodic tracks that build on Demby’s signature style. “Legend” (part of a soundtrack about film hero James Dean) opens beautifully with broad, fairly sweet and above all sensitive sounds. This sets the tone and atmosphere for the rest of the album, which continues with four tracks from another soundtrack (“I Am”) in which symphonic and choral sounds come together beautifully. Between these pieces is an enchanting arrangement of the well-known “Ave Maria” (here titled Ave’s Trance) with compelling wordless vocals by Pascal Languirand. The release closes with two alternative versions of older pieces, namely “Into Her Centre” (from “Set Free”) and “The Annointing” (from her 1970 album “Skies above Skies”).
