“Area 23” is an abstract and stark soundscape release by Dirk Jan Müller taking the listener through an imminent landscape of dark, eerie, and ghostly plains. It could be an imaginary soundtrack for a visit to a test site where all that’s left is barren. The overall outcome featured in the two 20-minute parts shows some affinity with the malevolent moods imagined on TD’s “Phaedra”, but on these tracks, the sense of omnipresent danger is profound as is the feel of total desolation. Give it a go with headphones when dark ambient is your cup of tea. The album is made available as a name-your-price download. |
