A reverie of delicate yet thoughtful soundings and a serene aural sanctuary would be an appropriate description for this spacious, luminous, 55-minute work of ambient that’s filled to the brim with lush, warm, and pastoral tones. According to the press sheet, “what began as a series of powerful exchanges years ago blossomed into in‑person studio sessions, culminating in a season of focused, joy‑filled work that shaped the album into a singular, heartfelt statement”. To my ears and personal taste, though, the well-produced but overall soft sound design, made up of piano, ambient textural guitars, and synths, is a bit cheesy and too easygoing. Somehow, I miss out on the intrinsic power undercurrents in these poetic/cinematic sound worlds that are said (or supposed) to be present to grab and keep my interest all the way. Rating: 3- |
