David Wright – Live at the London Planetarium
CD/DIGITAL DOWNLOAD, AD Music, 1996/2015

This release is actually the remastered version of the album David originally put out on cd in 1996. It features outtakes of music he played together with guitarist Nik Smith during two nights at the London Planetarium.
The outcome is imaginary, dramatic and enchanting, releasing a lot of controlled washes of energy during its melodic and ambient pieces. After the atmospheric entrance of “Landing” and “Enchantress”, the contemporary melodic is explored infectiously and attractively on “Rysheara” (here presented in an enhanced version).

The biggest part of the next nine pieces to follow can’t do wrong either, seeing a confident David Wright play his song-oriented work alongside lush spherics. Only on “Running Cloud” and “Bridge to the Sun”, things fall flat, abstract and incoherent to my ears, with all sonic elements involved simply not gluing together. In addition, I’d like to add the second half of “Live at the London Planetarium” feels more “mechanical” and therefore less appealing.
