What I got here is a long soundscape recording of smooth, ethereal electronic washes that’s part of my collection since it came out. “Between Realities” is a live-recorded deep ambient album by Canadian duo Scott McGregor Moore and Jamie Todd, alias dreamSTATE. It contains a 60-minute woven ambient soundscape (without any trace of melody or rhythm) that reflects their sound installation ‘Waveforms’, which took place in June 1997 during the H5 Project in Toronto. It is an album in the tradition of the great Brian Eno, in which electronic textures merge live with a wide variety of ambient (in this case, street) sounds. In my opinion, it is a special and introspective listening album that you have to listen to carefully and intently in order to appreciate it in full. |
