Emerald Web – Nocturne / Lights of the Ivory Plains
CD, Fortuna Records, 1989

The project Emerald Web was founded in 1978 by the Florida-based duo Bob Stohl and Kat Epple, both experienced flautists.
This cd comprises the albums, “Nocturne” and “Lights of the Ivory Plain”, released in 1983 and 1984 respectively.

They offer a fine blend of gentle and graceful new age music, featuring an interplay of varied flutes, soft wavering digital synthesizer melodies, assorted percussion and harp.

Emerald Web’s mission seems all about creating relaxed and moody atmospheres through their instrumental pieces. Most of the tracks are flute-dominated with a lyrical, fairytale-like edge, but occasionally a overall electronic outing piece comes by such as the immersive “A Distant Glowing”.

All together, the outcome combines a series of evocative, musical spaces into a graceful, unified and balanced whole.
