While the music on previous releases with the name title was very present, the outcome on “SC4” (capturing Erik’s live performance at the late-night Star’s End radio show on WXPN in October 2025) is of a calm, dreamy, and overall gentle nature. The 60-minute longform result sees Mr Wøllo take the ambient avenue, painting introspective, at times almost weightless sonic atmospheres that drift onward and submerge in a minimal fashion while transforming its textural form and impact slowly. There are many passages in the glacial ambient drone fields and morphing waves that feel like suspended animation and proof mesmerizing, hauntingly beautiful. I’d say it makes a strong candidate for headphone and late-night listening… Rating: between 3.5 and 4 stars. |
