The outcome on this album was created by Jörg Erren, Bert Fleißig, Jochen Schöttler and Christian Steffen during jam sessions and lots of improvising while staying at a holiday lot in Ouddorp, Zeeland, in 2016. Same as “Tidal Shift”, the music (split in Part 1-VIII) deviates quite a bit from ‘70’s classic electronic music: it feels more tactile most of the time while evolving and shifting at a slow pace as we wander through alternate, slightly psychedelic-ish and rather peculiar illuminated realities. I imagine it gives a nice voice to and interpretation of the nearby aquatic environment and its microbic sea life in particular. Sequenced parts show up in particular in the second half of the 48-minute release, such as on the bit more spiced “Part III”, “IV” and “VII” along a few gentle melodic lines on “Part V”. Expect Berlin School-ish stuff getting the EFFS treatment. Note: Those interested in obtaining a copy of this release -I used an unofficial cover for this review created by my trusted friend Dan – should contact Jörg Erren through the YouTube channel listed below. |
