ESE, Entheogenic Sound Explorers, are the Milano-based musicians Stefano Contini and Piero Marchesi. “The Other Door”, which is the duo’s second release, contains 50 minutes of crispy, warm and organic infused ambient with psychedelic flavours, all presented in a clear, transparent sound spectrum. Next to melodic and ethereal soundpads, clicks, catchy rhythms and some occasional guitar, the 11 tracks contain a straightforward and peculiar kind of ambient dub that is quite hard to depict in words, but which nevertheless has a natural (but not always an easy) flow. All in all, the outcome is certainly adventurous but nicely rendered. |
