“Flows” is the debut release of Russian composer Mihail Glukhov, aka Germind, an ambient recording taking the listener on a 66-minite ride to the farthest reaches of the universe. The gentle morphing celestial courier features 8-track minimal, enveloping soundscape arrangements of a drony, darker nature. It recalls the impressionist realm of TD’s “Atem” and “Zeit” as well as Schulze’s “Cyborg” established through contemporary sound design, introducing some slow, hold-back sequencing on “Mind Stream” and “Exodus”. Despite the quality music (such as Ascendant and Solaris, S1gns of L1fe) I’m familiar with from this label Germind’s outcome doesn’t grab nor move me that much. It simply sounds too uniform and too bland to my ears for its full duration. Rest me to say the music of this release is cut from the 24-bit master source.
