Jeff Pearce – Lingering Light
CD, Private Release, 2005

Back in 1993, ambient musician Jeff Pearce released his first album “Tenderness and Fatality”, after which he continued to impress me by releasing beautiful, floating and meandering ambient music on his following albums.

Here we find more melodic, short compositions compared to the free form electronic ambient washes of his previous albums.
Pearce actually composed and recorded the music for “Lingering Light” (his first privately released album) exclusively on the Chapman Stick, a string instrument that bridges between a guitar and a keyboard.

The evocative and elegant music on “Lingering Light” is one of contemplation. It’s quite simple but beautiful instrumental ambient music breathing an overall melancholic feel. The twelve imaginative tracks create a lovely dreamy and relaxed atmosphere, which will do well on a lazy afternoons or sombre weather conditions.

So all who love a good portion of well produced ambient music with a strong guitar touch, make sure to check out “Lingering Light”.
