Here’s another classic from the old days: an album featuring music for a French television documentary about botany. The composer is French musician Joël Fajerman, who created “L’Aventure des Plantes” by drawing on tracks from four previous projects in his sound library, with the exception of the emotive opening piece, “Flower’s Love.” Fajerman’s instrumentation and distinctive sound blend Vangelis-like flavours with classic Jean-Michel Jarre, while “Flower’s Love” also carries some lovely Francis Lai influences. The track was later released as a 7-inch single. The remaining pieces are relatively simple in structure, weaving together melodic themes, moody atmospheres, rhythms and various sound effects. Among the highlights are “Painted Desert” and “Levantines”, two particularly appealing electronic compositions. The album was released on cd in Spain in 1990 under the title “La Aventura De Las Plantas”, but finding a copy of the vinyl or cd is likely to prove quite difficult. |
