Mr Agebjörn’s “Southern Forest” is a concept release inspired by the Swedish forests. The nature-themed sonic narrative blends ambient, downtempo, sampled voices, and gentle electro into something transportive and cohesive. The 10 contemporary ambient tracks (featuring collaborations with Dr. Atmo, Cate Brooks, NINA, Miranda Magdalena, Mikael Ögren) create a rather restrained sonic landscape that turns out grounded yet expansive, earthy, melodic, and emotionally immersive. Both a cinematic tone and space do the storytelling here, with profound mellow moods taking the stage on “By the Lake” and “Shorefront”. Further ambient introspection shines through the gentle waves making up “Starwoven” and “Closure”.
