In the last few years, I haven’t been able to keep up with the speed of the new releases of the talented Mr. Tronestam, who now has found a well-deserved new home at Groove Unlimited. The concept album “Androids” is a musical interpretation about and inspired by a future where humans live together with (ongoing developments in) artificial intelligence as well as the presence of androids. Here, Johan’s highly melodic and accessible music still maintains a fixed formula with things kicking off with warm atmospheric pads and gentle soundscapes, then gradually evolving into rather infectious melodies accompanied by sparkling sequences. I almost forgot about the few vocoder bits starting to surface halfway through this well mixed and mastered release. “Androids” simply makes another solid recording from this sympathetic Danish artist that will appeal to a wide EM audience. |
