Jon Mark – A Celtic Story
CD, White Cloud, 1995

“A Celtic Story” is Jon Mark’s fourth album, this time released on his own White Cloud label. In just an hour, the listener is taken on a sonic journey through the rough times and overall history of Ireland, which is nicely sketched in the cd-booklet.

Again, Jon’s music remains very cinematic, atmospheric and overall quiet, taking the time to give an accurate sonic description of his Celtic homeland.
For this purpose, the sonics hail back to the realms of his debut album: soft, darker flavoured textures, harp and flute sounds in which elements of melancholy, intimacy and again a touch of romance shine through.

Next to the title track, “Mayday Morning”, “So Fair a Land” and “Song of the Bard” are haunting, evocative pieces, not to forget the elevating mood of the opening track “First Light”.

Fans of his stunning debut album “Standing Stones of Callanish” will love this calming album for sure.
Nicely done, Jon!
