Kevin Kendle - Winter

Release data:

Kevin Kendle – Winter
CD, Eventide Music, 2006

It’s winter over here while listing to this cd, so it’s perfecty timed. Kevin states in the booklet this music has been in production for 2,5 years, and is meant as a restful, reflective soundtrack for the season.

Opener “January Sunrise” is a soft glowing track with a strong laidback feel featuring hammered dulcimer, flutes, glockenspiel and warm synthesizer textures.
The following tracks all have this overall softness and delicacy that isn’t that electronic, but offering a nice constant flow. Kevin also uses a synthesizer-trumpet as solo-voice a couple of times. Things stay quiet but get a bit rhythmic on “Icicles”.

This said, this well-executed music comes close to romantic New Age or the soft dwellings or Jonn Serrie.
