Kubusschnitt, aka Andy Bloyce, Tom Coppens, and Ruud Heij is a Pan-European retro-electronica collective that has been around since the end of the ’90s presenting their own interpretation of Berlin School music both old and new.
The music featured on the four tracks -for which the basis was created at Ruud’s studio- making up “The Core” is still based firmly in (rapid) sequencing from real analogue gear with an assortment of sounds derived from hardware mostly real along with an odd virtual one. As such this album will offer a lot for everyone who has a soft spot for vintage atmospheres, thoughtful retro-sequencing, and lush melodies from the old days.
So no surprise, but a pleasant 68-minute ride of classic TD/Berlin School sequencing paired with enticing, occasionally otherworldly, ambiences.
