Madis – Sea of Tranquillity
CD/LP/DIGITAL DOWNLOAD, Seabound Music, 2020

Here’s a nice catch for fans of synth-pop related and rather infectious-melodic electronics composed by Polish musician/producer Amadeusz Malkowskraka Madis, aka Madis. The latter launched his debut mini-album “Ocean Rain” in 2013 followed by his own remix of “Interstellar’s” main theme in 2015, various other remixes and singles, all concluded by the single tracks “Nightwalk” and “Desert of Lost Souls” in 2018. “Sea of Tranquillity” offers 38 minutes of attractive, highly accessible music and sound design carrying on in the tradition of Jean-Michel Jarre (“Equinoxe”), Kebu and Schiller.

The 3-part/19-minute title piece kicking things off already makes a welcome, moody entrance while things shift towards trance-electro on the 8-minute “Carrying the Fire”. The two-fold “Moon Dust” returns to calm, moody soundscapes on the first part while sequences, drums and a solo voice give a nice backbone to the second half. “Otherside” is a brief, soothing coda where piano is dressed with spacious pads. Although not the least original, this recording will please a wide audience I’m sure.

A few months after this release, Madis released “Sea of Tranquillity” (ambient edit), a download-only, containing experimental, ambient versions of title piece.
