The cinematic impact of Max’s previous recording, “Waldgeist”, finds a compelling continuation in “Berggeist”. Once again, we are presented with a sonic narrative that is not tied to any specific location, nor does it seek to tell a predetermined story. Instead, through nine atmospheric, progressively unfolding melodic tracks—moving between meditative tranquillity, darker soundscapes and rhythmic momentum—the listener is invited to explore our experience of and encounter with nature. This time, the focus shifts to the mountainous world: its vastness and solitude, and the elemental presence of wind, stone, mist and light. Electronics once again take centre stage, while the carefully processed sounds of electric guitar and acoustic instruments are seamlessly woven into the compositions. Their integration adds depth and texture to the electronic soundscapes, further enhancing their emotional resonance. The third track, “In der Klamm”, and the seventh, “Felswandler”, stand out as particular highlights, drawing the listener into a world of awe, wonder and atmospheric immersion.
