Michael Neil – Moments of Heaven
CD-R, Private Release, 1998

“Moments of Heaven” is a grand piece of work by English musician Michael Neil, of which the music sounds similar to his album “Cornubia”, but the outcome is more impressionistic and orchestral.

The six-track albums opens with the major 34-minute title track, a great track of delicately sculptured sounds featuring quiet and strong symphonic parts. The grand symphonic realms start around 20 minutes and last till around 27 minutes, after which the music beautifully winds down.

“La Danse des Papillions” is a dreamy, textural piece of which the atmospheres beautifully reflect a sense of lightness. Next comes “Three Shire Suite”, another lovely symphonic poem of which the textures keep expanding over and over again.
“Siren of the Sea” is the closing piece of the album, carrying on in the same vein as the previous one, but with an overall heavenly touch, featuring fantastic grand cathedral-like textures.

All in all, “Moments of Heaven” is a stunning and highly recommended album for all who love free form and symphonic flavored ambient space music.
The album is only available as download from MusicZeit, you best choose the Flac-version for best quality.
