Michael Neil – The Constellations
CD-R, Private Release, 2001

“The Constellations” a spacey album (as the title suggests) and in fact a companion piece to Michael Neil’s release “Towards the Unknown Region”.
It’s planetarium music, although containing rather short, fragmentary and the music itself sounds less melancholic to me compared to the outcome on most of Neil’s other albums.

I absolutely love the building symphonic soundscapes as featured on “Auriga”. The closing track “Orion” again enters grand symphonic realms (a typical trademark of most of his music), but the sequencer lines sound rather restless though.

Sound-technically things can also be further improved, but overall this cosmic ambient doesn’t feel that strong.
The album is only available as download from MusicZeit, you best choose the Flac-version for best quality.
