“Journey Beyond” is the follow-up album to Mikkel Haraldstad’s release “The Art of Levitation”, offering an outcome dwelling in chillout/psybient downtempo space. The latter -created from an extensive set of tracks that were initially sequenced as two shorter eps and now reworked by progressing through the tracks and increasing bpm’s- is an overall lush, relaxed, and most tasty aural affair for the senses. It’s a mesmerizing, slow progression through a classic downtempo trance sound that sees the composer perfectly capturing sensibilities and dreamy atmospheric vibes for this nostalgic style. As a bonus, the download-version comes with a lovely 60-minute continuous mix made by the label itself of all nine tracks. Overall rating: between 3.5 and 4 stars. |
